THREE DAYS TRAINING PROGRAMME ON “SUGARCANE CULTIVATION FOR ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT OF TRIBAL FARMERS OF MIZORAM” UNDER TSP FROM 04.08.2016 TO 06.08.2016

ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region Mizoram Centre organized three days training programme on “Sugarcane Cultivation for Economic Empowerment of Tribal Farmers of Mizoram” Under TSP at ICAR RC for NEH Region, Mizoram Centre, Kolasib from 04.08.2016 to 06.08.2016. Altogether 40 farmers from Kolasib district participated in this training programme. Dr. S. B. Singh, Joint Director; Dr. M. Thoithoi Devi, Scientist (Agronomy); Dr. T. Boopathi, Scientist (Agricultural Entomology); Dr. A. Ratankumar Singh, Scientist (Plant Pathology); Dr. Saurav Saha, Scientist (Agricultural Physics); Dr. Lungmuana, Scientist (Soil Science); Dr. Vishambhar Dayal, Scientist (Horticulture) and Mr. Samik Chowdhury, Technical Officer (GKMS) attended the inaugural programme session of the training programme. Dr. M. Thoithoi Devi, Scientist (Agronomy) had paid a warm welcome to all the participants. Dr. S.B. Singh, Joint Director inaugurated the training programme and emphasized the importance of sugarcane cultivation for improving the economic status of tribal farmers of Mizoram. Dr. T. Boopathi, Scientist has given a vote of thanks. The training programme was coordinated by Dr. M. Thiothoi Devi, Scientist. In this training programme 13 lecture were covered in different aspects like importance of using suitable varieties of sugarcane, package of practices for sugarcane cultivation starting from land preparation, important diseases and management, important insect pest and management and post-harvest to value addition.
